Robert “Bob” Briskin – 1959–2003

The Robert Briskin Memorial Scholarship fund has been established to provide a summer camp experience for campers whose families have experienced and/or continue to deal with cancer — families whose fight with the disease has hindered their ability to send a camper in their family away to summer camp.

A Lasting Legacy

Always an enthusiastic advocate of the summer camp experience, Bob worked selflessly to create a program and place in which teens could thrive, and he devoted much of his time and energy to ensure that MTC would continue to meet the needs of teenagers far into the future. Bob, an attorney, gifted musician, and a dedicated tennis player, often spent time with campers both in the music studio and on the tennis court. A member of the ACA, Bob touched the lives of thousands of young people throughout the United States and internationally. His dedication, wit, and generosity leave a lasting legacy.

Eligibility

To be considered eligible for the Robert Briskin Memorial Scholarship, a camper must meet the following set of criteria:

• Have a family member (parent, grandparent, or sibling) whose fight with cancer has impaired the family’s ability to provide a summer camp experience for the camper.
• Be a resident of the USA.
• Be willing to leave home for 2–8 weeks to attend a residential summer camp or travel program.

Selection of Campers

Maine Teen Camp will work with a nationally recognized cancer association or social agency to solicit applications and choose an applicant (or applicants) for the scholarship(s). The number of scholarships awarded will be based on amount of funds raised.
